Rukshana
As a professional costumer, Rukshana was fortunate to spend a number of years working with both Tutu Etoile and Ballet Arizona where she refined her dance wear construction and design skills. She also spent several years working as a certified bra fitter and received extensive training from top manufacturers. She is currently the Director of Costuming and Wardrobe for Childsplay, Inc., a nationally and internationaly respected professional theatre company whose chosen audience is children. All this experience goes into her belly dance costume design and construction.
Her theatrical and dance experience culminated into the creation of Rukshana Raks! in 2008. Rukshana creates custom costumes for individuals and troupes, performs alterations and complete costume refurbishment. She also teaches a variety of construction workshops including but not limited to Bra and Belt Construction and Low Water Immersion Dyeing for Silk Veils . Rukshana is also available for one on one sewing and patterning classes for beginning and intermediate students. She is currently developing a virtual class format to reach students worldwide.
Rukshana began belly dancing in 2002. She regularly performs American Cabaret and Indian Fusion styles. Rukshana has been dancing regularly at Tandoori Times (www.tandooritimes.com) since 2007. She is also a founding member of cARTel bellydance, an oriental fusion dance troupe. Additionally, she teaches workshops in Balance Props (sword and tray) and teaches both private and group lessons. Rukshana is available for private parties and corporate event performances.
